Aerópolis hosts the “HazTICentufuturo” Awards

Promoted by the Regional Ministries of Education and Sports; Economy, Knowledge, Business and University; and Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation

The Regional Minister of Education and Sports, Javier Imbroda, and the Regional Minister of Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation, Rocío Ruiz, highlighted the commitment of the Andalusian Government to make women visible in the spaces during the delivery of the “HazTICentufuturo” awards held last May 7 in Aerópolis.

Javier Imbroda congratulated all the award-winning centers for their work that `also puts in value the work that is being developed in Andalusian educational centers to bring technology to our children from early stages, because there is no better tool for social inclusion, and equality, than education´. Likewise, the Regional Minister of Education and Sports stated that with this initiative `we have all won if we get any of the participants to consider, thanks to this contest, to make a technical career in the future´.

Likewise, Imbroda stressed that his department is working to improve the digitalization of the centers thanks to Prodig, a program that encourages the teaching and learning processes in a technological environment that is, at the same time, a meeting place for student teachers `because technologies help us learn more and better´.

On the other hand, Ruiz said that `from the Regional Ministry of Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation we are working to ensure that girls and women are offered optimal conditions to advance in equality, and that they have their place in the technological spaces and computer. We will continue working so that you can do ICT in your future´.

The head of equality policies in Andalusia stressed `the existence of a 'glass ceiling' in the scientific field that makes women who decide for this type of study do not reach high levels in research or receive so many scholarships" , so he added that "this Ministry is going to bet to avoid this situation and to promote girls and women in science and technology´.

Based on this situation of inequality and disadvantage for women, and with the aim of encouraging technological vocations in Andalusian girls and young people, the International Day of Girls in ICT is celebrated worldwide on the fourth Thursday of April.

For this reason the contest "HazTICentufuturo" was launched. This is the second edition of this event promoted by the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Ministry of Economy, Knowledge, Business and University and the Ministry of Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation, through the Andalusian Institute of Women (IAM) . The prize consists of 4 tablets, granted by the Orange collaborating entity, to the two best videos and the two best animations using Scratch among the participating students.

Once the awards ceremony was over, the students visited the Advanced Center for Aerospace Technologies (CATEC), where they had the opportunity to make contact with robotics, 3D printing or space research.
