Aerópolis participates in the first edition of Seville Space Forum

Seville hosts the first global forum of the aerospace industry with 160 companies from eight countries

Seville hosted on October 28 and 29 the Seville Space Forum, a professional fórum to promote knowledge exchanges between companies and institutions from the international aerospace industry, favor investments and promote small and medium-sized Sevillian companies in aeronautics and space, as well as alliances.

The Aerópolis Science and Technology Park was present at this forum, with its own stand, to explore the opportunities that the aerospace sector has in Andalusia, also holding interesting meetings with companies in the sector. The companies of the Park also had a widespread presence in this event.

Up to 160 representatives from as many companies and start-ups from eight different countries came together to analyze the challenges of aerospace activity, in a preparatory meeting for the next ministerial meeting of the European Space Agency, ESA, to be held at the end of November in the city.

This meeting, organized by the City Council of Seville in collaboration with the CDTI (Spanish Delegation to the ESA) and the European Space Agency, ESA, with the sponsorship of the Spanish Ministry of Science - which holds the current presidency of the ESA Council -, was attended by the main companies in the European aerospace sector, as well as the main ESA agents.

`It is the first time that Seville has hosted a meeting of this magnitude in the space sector. It is a meeting of enormous importance due both to its technological relevance and to the key agents of this sector who have come to discuss throughout the day the great prospects for the sector, a month before ESA Ministerial Conference that will be hold in the Andalusian capital on November 28 and 29. Without a doubt, these meetings will help us provide a boost to the companies of the aerospace sector in our region in order to emerge powerfully in the space sector and in the new market of the New Space´, said Francisco Páez, delegate of Economy, Commerce, University Relations and Metropolitan Area.

Páez participated in the inauguration of the forum together with Juan Carlos Cortés, director of the CDTI, Carmen Sillero, Coordinator of the Area of ??Strategy and Programs for the IDEA Agency, Jean Sebastian, general delegate of the CVA (Community of Ariane Cities) and Antonio Bueno, head of the Electric Unit of the Airbus Tablada factory. Prior to this day, the participants made technical visits to leading Andalusian companies and institutions in the sector, including the Advanced Center for Aerospace Technologies (CATEC), based in Aerópolis.

Topics such as the aerospace industry applied to climate change, connectivity, the defense of the planet against the impact of asteroids or space launchers are some of those addressed in this meeting, which aims to create and strengthen the links of the space industry of European cities interested in opening new lines of collaboration and business.
