The project AERIS celebrates its final meeting at the AED DAYS 2020

On October 7, the final conference of the project AERIS was held, coinciding with the AED Days 2020, an annual event that brings together the Portuguese aeronautics, space and defense ecosystem together with the main international players in this industry.

The project AERIS, co-financed by INTERREG V-A / POCTEP (Cross-border Cooperation between Spain and Portugal), was born in 2017 with the aim of integrating and improving the competitiveness of the aeronautical cluster of the Andalusia-Alentejo cross-border region.

Within the framework of the AED Days 2020, this year in a 100% digital format, AERIS was attended by the Seville Chamber of Commerce, coordinator and main partner of the project, representatives of CEIIA, FADA CATEC Technology Centre and the regional clusters AED and Andalucía Aerospace, all partners in the project.

During the meeting, attendees were presented with the main objectives, the work carried out by the consortium during these years in the aeronautical sector of the Andalusia and Alentejo regions, as well as the results and milestones achieved.

The session continued with the intervention of AED and Andalucía Aerospace who shared their vision, the new challenges and opportunities for the sector in the current pandemic situation. Among the great challenges and opportunities that the current situation has brought, both clusters highlighted the opportunity to relocate the supply chain, which will allow promoting the manufacture of components locally as a new opportunity to develop the ecosystem. On the other hand, both insisted on the importance of continuing to cooperate closely with all the agents involved as a key to economic recovery.

The AERIS project Consortium is made up of the following entities: Seville Chamber of Commerce (project coordinator), ADRAL - Alentejo Regional Development Agency; AED - Portuguese Cluster of Aeronautical Industry, Space and Defense; CEIIA - Center for Engineering and Product Development; PACT - Alentejo Science and Technology Park and the University of Évora, by the Alentejo, and the IDEA Agency - Andalusia Agency for Innovation and Development; FADA - Andalusian Foundation for Aerospace Development; the University of Seville and Andalusia Aerospace, on the part of Andalusia.
